Hermione

Ah this is the life! Two square meals a day, lots of nice long walks, doggie and human friends to play with and this wonderful, big, comfy bed to sleep in! Who could ask for anything more? So, when people say “It’s a dog’s life” are they complaining or just jealous? Lazy Daisy (formerly known as Hermione)

Gizmo

HEY REMEMBER ME? GIZMO? My name is Hilo now (I’m in the striped bandana) and this is my best friend and roomie Kona. She adopted me about 2 weeks after I got out of the shelter and we’ve been best friends ever since! We live right by the beach and it’s DOG FRIENDLY so we get to go all the time. Here I am….gazing at the surf. I’ve got a great life. Thanks you guys for getting me out of the shelter!

Stella

   S
TELLA STELLA STELLA! Well, that’s my name now. I used to be Cho…one of the Harry Potter puppies. I live with Ken who is the BEST guardian ever. He calls me a supermodel and thinks I am very smart. Ken and I have private training lessons at our house. He is doing very well and I bet he graduates with all As. As you can see, I am also very helpful…..here I am sweeping up the leaves in the yard. Well, gotta go back to work now. Bye Paw’d Squad and thanks for taking care of me when I was a baby!

Happy

I AM KING OF MY CASTLE. Yes, it’s me Happy (now known as Oliver). I was one of the seven puppies with dwarf names. HA! Look how big I am now – call me a dwarf will ya! That’s me up on the couch lording it over those females and that…..that….cat! Just kidding, I really like all my roomies especially the cat. This is really a great house and my people take really good care of us. Thanks Dawg Squad for Heather and Tina and say HI to all my brothers and sisters please!

Kahlua

Kahlua (brown pit) and Guiness have a great story to tell. Kahlua (formerly Zelda) was adopted from the Dawg Squad about 2 years ago. She went to work with her Dad every day and had a great life. But there was something missing….a canine playmate. So Kahlua came back to the Squad to find a brother. Unfortunately, there were no “cute boys” available that day but the Squad sent her over to see the boys at Karma Rescue. She did and there was an instant love match between her and Guiness. Now the pair are inseparable and are obviously quite spoiled….that is NOT the dog bed….well, maybe it is now. And just for a size idea….here’s Kahlua in Mom’s lap!

Tova

Hi it's me Tova! When I first came to The Dawg Squad I was scared of EVERYTHING! And now look at me. I got adopted by this super lady and by Tillie, my Golden sister. We go traveling and have tons of fun. The first picture is me and Tillie in our van after a very long day of playing in the snow in Colorado. And here we are in Illinois on our way to our second home. Yep...I have TWO houses now...one in Los Angeles and one in Chicago. I've sure come a long way from living on the streets, haven't I?

Heather

About four years ago, Heather was adopted by the Woolson family. We just got these pictures and the following note from the family – this is what keeps us going!

“We love Heather! She is our sweet lovely "Amazon Princess". She is such a funny, good natured, loving dog who gets along really well with our kids (everyone else's, too), our cats, and every other animal she comes in contact with. Heather loves being with us, and we love being with her, too! We go camping together at least 4 times a year, and Heather and I go hiking on Saturday mornings.

She stands 30 inches from floor to back, and weighs 140 lbs. (but not overweight, just really big!)

Heather does some really funny things, too. When I am sitting in a chair, she comes up behind me and shoves her snout under my arm at armpit height so that my arm propelled into the air and lands around her in a neck hug. She also sometimes decides that she is a lap dog, and actually sits in my lap.

Thank you again for doing what you do to help rescue animals, and thank you for our Heather!

Warmest Wishes,
Michael, Teresa, Geoff, Kaitlin, Heather and all the other critter

Sambuca

Sambuca (now Jera) was adopted to this wonderful woman….here is what she just wrote to us:

As much as I LOVE Tuk (Rott/Corgi mix) & Tiepa (Doberman)... since I lost my girl, I've felt a piece missing. I've always felt so 'wrong' in saying that.... Tuk was there for me to keep going, help me mourn... help Tiepa over her loss... as well as mine. He is and will always be our special little boy.... I wanted to share what happened yesterday that just made me, since the loss of my girl Runa, feel like my family was together again and a 'hole' was filled.... NOT replaced....

I was on the phone and Tuk & Jera were playing. Since she has been going to work, they have been getting nicely bonded. They take turns as well as going together. Tiepa came over and stood in the middle of them playing, watching. Then, very gently, she too began to play with Jera. It was as if, that instant, Tuk & Tiepa both embraced this little girl. They were playing so gently with her I started to cry.... silly huh! I felt a warmth inside that I haven't felt since my loss.... I felt complete.... Tuk was our (Tiepa & myself) first angel sent to help us mourn our special girl.... I so feel now, we've been blessed with a second angel, to help us heal and begin to live our life how we did before...

All I can say is Thank you for the work you do.... for being that 'stepping stone' where these special little souls are safe to wait for us to find them....

Thanks again....
You and your volunteers, are angels yourselves....
Guardian Angels on earth, for these innocent little beings....

Roxanna, Tiepa, Tuk & Jera....

Latoona

My name was Latoona but now it’s Callie. I’m the cute one with the big ears on the right. The other two dogs are my brothers AJ and Tucker – they were rescued in Taiwan when our parents lived there. Is that cool or what? I got a great new home and I get to go hiking and camping and do all sorts of neat stuff. Life is good….thanks Dawg Squad!

Narcissa

Shelby, previously known as Narcissa, was one of our “Harry Potter” puppies. She has grown into a gorgeous chocolate lab mix who loves the beach, having her guardian chase her around the living room and playing fetch. Shelby always has a stick in her mouth when she is on a walk. Shelby’s people want to say a big THANK YOU to her fosters, Ted and Ivania, for doing such a great job when she was just a puppy!
